Gannon University Announces New Faculty Career Mentoring Coordinator
Erie, Pa. – Gannon University has appointed Elisa Konieczko, Ph.D., to the position of faculty career
mentor coordinator. In this position, Konieczko will be building on the work of Phil Kelly,D.A., who recently
retired, to ensure ongoing institutional support for the development of new processes and systems for
promoting faculty excellence.
Konieczko will be responsible for developing and facilitating programs for new faculty, acting as a resource
for faculty preparing for promotion and tenure and developing collaborative programs, including training
workshops, for faculty in all stages of career development.
The coordinator will also chair a newly created faculty career mentoring committee. This committee will
function similar to an advisory board to help Konieczko and Walter Iwanenko, Ph.D., vice president for
academic affairs, develop activities and structure for a full faculty mentoring program.
Konieczko has been both a mentor and a mentee and believes that it is a beneficial relationship. “A large
part of mentoring is just listening to the mentee and finding out what their concerns are and then just being
a sounding board for them to help them figure out how they should solve their problem,” Konieczko said.
“I am so excited to help my colleagues achieve their professional development goals and succeed at the
