(Erie, PA) – The Erie SeaWolves, Double-A Affiliate the Detroit Tigers, are seeking player accommodations for the 2017 season including short-term lease apartments and host families.

For players, securing accommodations in Erie can be challenging and stressful. Most will not know they need housing in Erie until they are assigned to the SeaWolves roster just a few days prior to Opening Day. Rosters are finalized on or around March 31. At that time, players will search for housing remotely as they wrap up Spring Training activities in Florida.

To assist players assigned to Erie, the SeaWolves’ front office is presently compiling a list of available accommodations which meet the needs of a Minor League Baseball player’s lifestyle. Players only live in Erie for the duration of the season and may be transferred to another team in-season.

Prospective host families must fill out an application and have their home visited by a member of the SeaWolves front office to ensure it meets the needs and specifications of the individual player and the Detroit Tigers organization. An application and visit does not guarantee a specific family will receive a player. If selected, the host family agrees to provide housing for the duration of the season.

Since host families will not fit the needs of some players, the team is also seeking apartment and single-family homes that would be available on short-term leases. Specifically, the team is looking to identify 1, 2 or 3 bedroom apartments or single-family homes available on a month-to-month lease or, at a minimum, be available on a five-month lease from April 1 through August 31. Some players, based on their individual situations, may be open to a lease through September 15. All options should be affordably priced and located within 20 minutes of downtown Erie.

Interested property owners and prospective host families should contact Greg Gania at 814-456-1300 or for additional details.

The SeaWolves open the 2017 season at UPMC Park on Thursday, April 6 against the Trenton Thunder (New York Yankees) at 6:35 p.m. Fans can purchase ticket packages, group and hospitality outings by calling 814-456-1300 or by visiting
