From composting seminars to drop-off days for hazardous waste materials, Don Blakesley of Erie Co. Recycling and Jessica James of Environment Erie, are trying to urge people and businesses to make recycling, their business. That's one a new effort is underway to get local county businesses on board with recycling, more. Here's a look at how they can be part of the program, and how it can help them save money, too.
This year, The Hite Company is celebrating 35 years of serving Erie County. Of the 32 employees, two have been there since the business opened, back in 1977. Regional Manager, John Proctor, says, "The Hite Company is a full-line electrical distributor. We service the industrial, commercial, and residential markets as well as the contractor business." Headquartered in Altoona, the business has 23 locations in three states. The Erie branch is located at 2402 W. 15th Street.
Lake Erie Speedway on a typical Saturday night consists of sounds of engines roaring, and the stands are packed with excitement. But during the week it's a much different scenario. Four workers spend hundreds of hours cleaning up the grandstands and the track getting it all ready for next week's event.

Mercyhurst’s internationally known intelligence studies program will provide the education to applicants selected by the RCWE and PA CareerLink® – Erie County. Their efforts will be supported by the Erie Regional Chamber & Growth Partnership and partners from local industry and economic development organizations.

The United Way of Erie County today announced that local small businesses have given more than* $20,300* to the 2012 Chamber Challenge. This collaboration with the Erie Regional Chamber & Growth Partnership sought to raise $10,000 by encouraging 100 companies to give at least $100 to United Way to accomplish its goal to reduce poverty in Erie County.
