Civics Bee
The Erie Regional Chamber and Growth Partnership (ERCGP) hosted the 2025 National Civics Bee in Erie on April 16th in the Walker Recital Hall on the campus of Mercyhurst University.
This is the third year that the ERCGP has partnered with The Civic Trust, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, to bring this competition to the Erie region. The competition encourages young leaders to deepen their understanding of democracy, engage constructively in their communities, build trust in civic institutions, and practice raising their voice on matters that concern them.
This year, over 80 middle school students from public, private, charter and home schools submitted essays and were accepted into the competition. At the Live event competition, 20 6th - 8th graders from around the region showcased their knowledge of Government, the Constitution, and even American history in front of their families, educators and community leaders. The event was a great experience for everyone who participated, and we are excited for our three finalists who will be participating in the State competition on June 13, 2025 in State College.
